On January 13, 2018, my best friend proposed to me on a beach at Naples Pier — after flying one of my friends and her husband down to Florida to surprise me and take photos of the engagement (my dream since I met her freshman year of college). I had NO IDEA it would be happening that weekend and NO IDEA Olivia and Caleb were there until after the fact. It was perfect and beautiful and my answer was "yes yes yes yes yes yes yes."
Kyle and I have only been dating since August and I know that for some of you this may seem really fast. To be honest — and meaning this as politely as possible — we don't care. He's been one of my closest friends for, by the time we're married, four years, and I love him and our story with all of my heart. I'm thankful for our history as friends and how God was preparing us for each other. I'm completely confident in our relationship and in my decision to marry him.
Waiting a few days to announce it gave us the opportunity to tell family and close friends first while somewhat keeping it our own little secret to just BE in our newly engaged status — without all of the when, where and how questions. We're so grateful for all of the love and support from our family and friends. Seriously, I'm BLOWN AWAY by the tears, excitement and pure joy loved ones have displayed to us in the past few days. We're excited to be able to celebrate this next step in life with everyone we appreciate so dearly.
Some of you know and some of you may not, but Kyle took a job in Fort Myers, FL, in mid-November. So, as we begin to hear wedding bells in the not-too-far-off distance, our marriage will also bring a 2,000-mile move for me as I join him in what will be our new home. North Dakota, and specifically Fargo, will always be near and dear to my heart. Kyle and I have a special love for the Midwest and our apartment in Florida already reflects that — huge shoutout to Unglued, ha! But we're running full force into the beautiful life we know God already has planned for us down in the Sunshine State.
Until then, I'm going to cherish each moment I have left with my dear community here in Fargo — while doing some quick wedding planning, of course. Here's to constant peace and no stress, am I right? ;)
